The Consumer Accounts CardSM is a special-purpose financial debit card that links account holders with:
- Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs)
Consumer Accounts Cards allow account holders to use funds from these accounts at the time of purchase, eliminating the need to fill out claim forms for reimbursement of eligible expenses. Card transactions are validated real-time to ensure conformance with IRS guidelines and the employer's specific plan. Once the card transaction is completed and a receipt is signed, funds from the relevant tax-advantaged account are automatically transferred to the merchant or physician.
Generally, the card can be used to pay for:
- Pharmacy prescriptions
- Copayments at the doctor's office, hospital, or other health care center
- Certain over-the-counter health care items
- Dependant care expenses, in cases of a Dependant Care FSA
